REMINDER: Friday, April 22nd is the last day for parents to register their child(ren) for summer school. Our summer school program is for students that will be in Kindergarten-8th grade next school year and will be held July 5th-July 28th. The Southern Boone School Board of Education met on Monday night, and approved changes to the 2021-2022 school district calendar. These changes to the calendar are due to the school district taking a snow day on Friday, March 11th. READ MORE HERE: https://bit.ly/3Exgfxl

Today is Ms. Susan's last day as the daytime custodian at the elementary school. The students and staff will miss her! Thank you for everything you have done for the students, staff and the school.

Earlier this week, MU nursing students gave a presentation about living a healthy life to 2nd grade students at the primary school. Students participated in a handwashing activity, learned about stress management, hygiene, nutrition, managing tummy aches and headaches and received some tips about summer safety.

8th grade students went to the high school this morning for their High School Enrollment Orientation. Current juniors led tour groups, helped them fill out their ICAP, and answered questions. The high school counselors will visit the middle school next week to finalize their enrollment for next school year.

Construction continues on the middle school expansion and renovation project. Crew are currently working on the following projects:

FBLA State Leadership Convention came to a close today in Springfield. Southern Boone had five students compete and two students advancing to to the FBLA National Convention in Chicago, June 29th-July 2nd.

High school students, Amanda Felmlee, Kristyn Schaller and Lauren Parker are attending the Missouri Future Business Leaders of America State Leadership Conference this week in Springfield.

Fred was joined by Ranken Technical College's President Don Pohl and Dean Shannon Brueggemann for the interview. On Thursday, the school district held a Substitute Teacher Informational Workshop for people interested in learning more about becoming a substitute teacher. We had teachers share what a typical school day is like, and Kelly Educational Services explained the application process. REMINDER: The 8th Grade Lock In is this Friday night, April 8th at the middle school!

On Wednesday, troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol conducted their annual inspection of the district's school buses. Thank you to our bus mechanic, Dennis Sapp for his hard work and dedication taking care of the buses throughout the year, and making sure the buses are safe for students to get to and from school, sporting events and activities.

Six Ashland FFA members attended Missouri Farm Bureau Youth Leadership Day in Jefferson City today. Thank you to Boone County Farm Bureau for inviting the students to participate.

Members of the High School Chamber Choir and Band participated in District Music Contest for solos and ensembles over Spring Break. All students achieved either gold or silver ratings.
